Remake: M6886 (modified) hacked + wide legged pants

Hi ya!  I'm super excited about this outfit, I modified my beloved M6886.  You can check out my original review of the pattern here.  This pattern is very popular on pattern review and with sewist around the world.  It's a basic knit pattern that can be the foundation for tons of knit and woven garments.  Sewist have used this pattern to make T Shirts, dresses, tops, etc, it truly is versatile.  To round out this outfit, I also made wide legged pants using Simplicity 8389, if you remember, I made the shorts to S8389.  The only modification to the original was I made pants instead of shorts.  The construction of the shorts and pants are the same and you can read about the review here.   I was challenged to hack M6886 and since I'm not the most creative person, I went looking for inspiration.  I found it here from My Daily Threadz, and let me tell you, she slayed this look!  I thought to myself, how would this look done thick? and I was off.   Beau Jé Designs  has been giving some awesome weekly tips on how to take basic patterns and modify them, she is a great resource.  There are some very talented people on the interwebs and I'm learning so much.

For the dress, I made view b, I sewed from the underarm down five inches and left the rest of the side seam open.  I made the top off the shoulder by cutting three inches down from the shoulder on the front, back and sleeve ensuring everything lined up before cutting my fabric.  I then cut a piece of fabric five inches wide and the circumference of  the top.  I also added a center back seam with seam allowance to the back bodice piece to add shaping. Here's a pictorial I found useful for you visual learners.

I want to hear from you, do you hack (modify) patterns?  What are you favorite hacks?
