Pattern Review: S1202+ SewStylish Raglan sleeves

The one thing I like about sportswear is that it can be dressed up or down and it can be mixed and matched.  I love when my clothes work double duty.  It's nice to have items for special occasions, but more often than not I'm looking for a workhorse in my wardrobe, something that can be used in multiple ways and is easy to make, is that too much to ask?

When I first started sewing I wanted easy, then I wanted complicated, now I'm back to easy, that looks complicated lol.  This is a wearable muslin, I'm practicing on slippery fabric and I have lots of drag/tug marks on this fabric eekk..

Pattern Description:

This miss and miss petite sewing pattern includes a three quarter sleeve lined jacket, knee length skirt and slim pants both with side zipper, and top with raglan cap sleeve. Sew Stylish Collection for Simplicity.  I made view A.

Pattern Sizing:

8-24  I cut a 24

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow?

Yes, it was pretty simple step by step instructions.  I'm still a little confused on how to attach the loop at the center back, I have to look at a tutorial on that as it was my first time and I don't think I lined things up perfectly but it was still easy..

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?

The pattern didn't have a dart on the bodice which wasn't bad, but I think it would have added a little more shaping.

The Raglan sleeve was droopy under the arm, but the model had the same issue, but I would have like it a little more fitted.

For not having the dart shaping I think it could have flared a little more to give more shaping, I will flare the bottom out next time to give more definition to the waist.

Fabric Used:

Polyester Charmeuse from Joann's  also used here.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:

I added two inches to the bodice at the waist lengthen / shorten line.

I increased the sleeve width by 1.5 inches

Next time, I will add about three inches to the sleeve length as well as increasing the width at the bicep.

Next time, I will flare the bottom out about an inch  starting gradually below the lengthen line to the hem to add more shaping to the waist.

Would you sew it again?

Yes, this is a super easy top good for layering and displaying prints.  I may try it in a gingham or rayon print.

Would you recommend it to others?

Yes, I think it's a good top to have and it's good experience with raglan sleeves.

Pattern: $1
Fabric: $ 3.50 Per yard.  I used a little over a yard. Total $4.25
